Barnaby Robson studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and at The Juilliard School, New York, where he was awarded the School’s prestigious Concerto Prize.

He was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Philharmonia Orchestra, London in May 2000. With this world class orchestra he plays for conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Charles Mackerras & Riccardo Muti at renowned venues world wide.

In adddition to performing in the orchestra's annual season of over 200 concerts, Barnaby's playing can be heard on numerous Philharmonia CD's, broadcasts and film scores. Barnaby is also a member of the Soloists of the Philharmonia, a versatile chamber ensemble comprising principal musicians from the Orchestra, performing recitals across the UK, including regular apperances at London's Wigmore Hall.

Barnaby also works with other orchestras including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, London Chamber Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
